Biden orders “evaluation and adjustment” of US troops in the Middle East

US President Joe Biden has given instructions to evaluate and, if necessary, adjust the alignment of US forces in the Middle East, Reuters reports, citing a White House statement.

“Directed the Pentagon to assess and adjust force posture in the region as necessary to enhance deterrence, ensure force security, and facilitate achievement of the full range of U.S. missions.” — the agency quotes the publication.

Biden also ordered additional security measures at the country’s embassies in the Middle East.

He gave instructions in the context of an Israeli attack on Beirut, which targeted the leader of the Lebanese group Hezbollah. Hassan Nasrallah. The Israel Defense Forces attacked the group’s central headquarters on the night of September 27. The army subsequently asked Beirut residents to evacuate and attacked again.

Biden previously said that Israel did not warn the United States about plans to attack Beirut. CNN sources said Tel Aviv notified Washington minutes before the attack.
