The Consell and Asnimo expand their collaboration with the inauguration of the new Son Ametller residence

The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmésopen this Friday the Son Ametller residence of the Asnimo Foundationwhich adds 20 new residential places and 20 day center places for people with intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders.

Galmés highlighted the importance of this inauguration because it represents a “step forward” in the commitment of the island institution to “the inclusion and well-being of people with disabilities”as explained in a statement. “The Consell works hand in hand with Asnimo to ensure that all people who need it can live with dignity, support and autonomy,” he said.

The inauguration also took place in the presence of the Minister of Family and Social Affairs, Catalina Waxthe director of the Asnimo Foundation, Tolo Marquezthe president of IMAS, Guillermo Sanchezand the island director of People with Disabilities, Maria Francesca Rigo.

Currently, the The Asnimo Foundation serves a total of 26 people in their day centers, 116 people via the professional service -8 in orientation and placement, 104 in professional programs and 4 in pre-employment training- and 30 people in supervised accommodation serviceall suffering from intellectual disabilities and/or developmental disorders. In addition, the Consell de Mallorca, through IMAS, has a total of 148 places arranged with the entity.

Asnimo, which has worked for more than 40 years for people with functional diversity in Mallorca, is a “reference in the care of people with Down syndrome and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

“The work carried out by Asnimo is essential for society and the Consell will support its work to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities,” concluded the President of the Consell.

The new residence, located in Palma, will allow its users to access adapted services that promote your personal development and their inclusion in the community, in accordance with the person-centered care model that Asnimo promotes.
