There are works that exasperate and others that are expected like the May rain. The reform of Valle del Oro Square (Carabachel)which will begin before the end of the year, is one of the latter. Responding to a request made more than three years ago by residents of the neighborhood via Decide Madrid, the Works and Facilities area of Madrid City Hall will redevelop the southern area of this park, renew the sidewalk, redevelop and replant the flower beds and build new play areas for children and adults.

The square, which adds 2,651 square meters spread over two areas Opened on Porto Avenue at number 86, it currently has many mature trees, mainly horse chestnuts, but it does not have any type of furniture, with the exception of trash cans, and the sidewalk and some flowerbeds flowers are degraded. “What could be a beautiful place with gardens is a dunghill,” the neighbors denounced via the Consistory participation portal.

Through this project, in which the municipality will invest 434,000 euros, The flower beds will be reorganized to free the central area from the two spaces that compose it, becoming spaces for walking paved with paving stones. In addition, living and activity zones will be included (for children’s games in the first zone and for adults in the second) with sidewalks made of rubber, clay, resin and sand surrounded by new flower beds. In these spaces, there will be games for children, “gymnastics” elements for adults, wooden benches, straight and curved concrete benches and tables around the ice cream kiosk which will allow people to get together and play. Bicycle racks, a new granite fountain and eleven LED street lights will also be installed. The work will last until mid-2025.
