The first shipment arrived in Belarus via the Northern Sea Route

The first shipment arrived in Belarus along the North Sea transport corridor. This was reported by the Belarusian transport and logistics center Mogilev-Beltamozhservice.

It should be noted that in August 2024, goods destined for Belarusian companies were shipped from the port of Shanghai. The container ship passed through the Chukchi Sea and arrived in St. Petersburg, after which the cargo was delivered by road to Mogilev. The entire trip lasted 35 days. Thus, the delivery time of goods from China to Belarus and vice versa has been reduced by almost 40% compared to the traditional southern route.

Recall that previously products exported from Belarus were sent through the ports of the Baltic republics and Ukraine. However, after the introduction of sanctions, Minsk began to look for an alternative in the form of Russian seaports. In particular, Belarus became interested in the ports of Murmansk and the Leningrad Region.
