Russia kills 16 surrendered Ukrainian prisoners in largest summary execution of war

Ukrainian authorities are investigating an alleged execution by Russian soldiers of 16 Ukrainian soldiers who had surrendered on the axis of the Pokrovsk front, in the eastern region of Donetsk, as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced on his social networks, Andrei Kostin.

If the facts and the identity of its protagonists – who appear filmed in a video broadcast on social networks – are confirmed, it would be, according to Kostin, the “the largest case of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war at the front” since the start of the war on February 24, 2022.

In the video you can see how the Russians line up the surrendered Ukrainian soldiers and later shoot them down. finish them off on the ground.

Since the start of the Russian military invasion, Ukraine has denounced the executions of dozens of unarmed soldiers wounded or who had surrendered to Russian forces. Some of them were filmed in videos then broadcast on social networks.

Kyiv insists it is a Russian systematic practice.

Prosecutor General Kostin said the alleged execution of the 16 Ukrainian soldiers is “another indication that the murder and torture of prisoners of war are not isolated incidents” but “a deliberate policy of the Russian military and political leadership.
