The estimates of olive oil production in Andalusia For the next 2024/2025 campaign, they indicate that it could exceed one million tonnes, or 76.6 percent more than the final production of the last campaign. These data emerge from the capacity of the olive grove held this Thursday in Jaén.
Power was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramón Fernández-Pachecowho stressed that “this campaign was favored by the precipitation and mild temperatures of spring, which helped to partially improve the condition of the plantations”.
By province, Jaén leads with the production of 445,000 tons of olive oil, 116% more than that recorded last season; followed by Córdoba with 271,000 tonnes, almost 79% more; and Seville in third position with 125,000 tonnes, or 24% more. The percentage of olive oil produced increased compared to the previous campaign in all provinces except Almería and Huelva.
As for the olive milla production of 5,347,700 tonnes is estimated throughout Andalusia, of which 2,100,000 tonnes will be produced in the province of Jaén; 1,547,500 tonnes in Cordoba; 750,000 tonnes in Seville; 516,500 in Granada; 210,000 in Malaga; 132,900 in Cádiz; 48,200 in Huelva and 42,600 tonnes in Almería.
Regarding the organic olive grove For the mill’s olives, it is important to highlight that over the last ten years, the area of organic olive groves reached 134,782 hectares in 2023, which represents 8.6% of the mill’s total olive grove.
Thus, as detailed by the advisor, “the current campaign is expected to be 48.8% higher than the previous one with a production of 29,230 tons of organic oil,” he added.Córdoba is the main producing province with almost 54% of Andalusia.
