French President Emmanuel Macron has spoken out in favor of stopping the supply to Israel of weapons that could be used to attack the Gaza Strip, like France, and said that “We do not fight terrorism by sacrificing the civilian population”.
“I think today the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop sending weapons (to Israel) to carry out the fighting in Gaza. France does not do it“, declared Macron, in an interview broadcast this Saturday on the radio. France Inter.
Macron did not name countries that must stop selling weapons to the Jewish state, but USA appears, from a distance, like the main supplier.
The French president warned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ignored part of the international community.
“I think we are not being listened to. I have already said it again to Prime Minister Netayahu and I think it is a mistake, a mistake also for the security of Israel, because we see in the public opinions of there is a growing resentment in the region,” he noted.
The president considered that the objective is “avoid climbing” in the region and further insisted that “Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza”.
