Rallies and demonstrations have already been organized in Berlin dedicated to the attack by Hamas militants against Israel and the conflict in the Gaza Strip. The pro-Palestine march attracted more than 1,000 people, according to police, while the pro-Israel rally attracted about 650 participants. A police spokesman said the situation was generally calm, with about 500 law enforcement officers deployed to maintain order, while other events were planned for the weekend.
The number of participants in Berlin was relatively small compared to the demonstration in London, where tens of thousands of people gathered. In Rome, clashes broke out with police at an unauthorized demonstration involving several thousand people. Masked protesters threw bottles and firecrackers at law enforcement officers, to which police responded with tear gas and water cannons.
Meanwhile, in Munich, around 8,000 people are expected to attend the “365 Days – Munich Against Anti-Semitism” commemorative event on October 6. The organizers emphasize that there is no place for anti-Semitism in society and want to demonstrate unity to confront this problem. The president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Joseph Schuster, and the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Markus Söder, will speak at the event.
