In addition to the financial obligations of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in Baku, the government of Azerbaijan also bears the actual additional costs related directly or indirectly with the event.
According to the information obtained by “Report”, this was included in the agenda of the plenary session of the Milli Majlis to be held on October 8, “The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the Framework of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the United Nations Paris Agreement on Climate Change”, was reflected in the draft law on the approval of the twenty-ninth session of the Conference of the Parties in the Framework Convention, the nineteenth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol, the sixth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement and the sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies.
It was noted that these expenses, in the amount of US$5,811,800 provisionally determined, include actual additional expenses related to travel and entitlements of secretariat staff and other United Nations officials. United Nations assigned to plan, serve or participate in the Conference. Includes, but is not limited to, the costs of preparation, technical missions and information, cybersecurity and webcasting services necessary to plan the Conference, including those incurred prior to the execution of this Agreement.
The Government will transfer this estimated amount to the secretariat in accordance with a separate agreement to be entered into by exchange of letters between the Parties for the transfer of funds.
