The president of the AVT assures that the Congress of Deputies is “managed” by “the ETA community”

The president of the Association of Victims of Terrorism (AVT), Maite Araluce, declared that the approval of the legal reform which validates for prisoners – including those of ETA – the sentences they served in a another country, shows that the Congress of Deputies is “managed” by the “ETA environment”.

Araluce denounced, in a brief speech at the United Nations International Conference on Victims of Terrorism, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the “humiliation and abandonment” that those affected suffer, as he said. by terrorism in Spain.

In this sense, and in the same line that he has maintained in recent days, he reiterated his criticism of the legal reform approved by all parties in Congress which validates prisoners – including those of ETA – the sentences that they served in another country. , which in many cases involves reducing the actual stay in prison in Spain.

“Locked in ostracism”

“If before we were a containment barrier against terrorists, now we are against a large part of the political class,” declared the president of the AVT, who accused “political class” to “allow terrorists who have committed numerous murders to leave prisons thanks to legal reform”. “The murderers in the street and the victims are locked into the ostracism in which they want to keep us,” he added.

Araluce even assured that “the Spanish Congress is taking care of it regarding ETA.” “I refer to the evidence. That same week, they obtained, with everyone’s approval, that hundreds of terrorists had their sentences reduced and many will take to the streets ipso facto“, he denounced.

On the other hand, he declared that at present, only three of the terrorists convicted for the attacks of March 11, 2004 in Madrid “are still in prison”.

The president of the AVT denounced that this “means that 15 people found guilty of the most serious attacks in European history have been sentenced”. released without their victims knowing whether they have served their entire sentence, how many years they have served, whether they have benefited from prison benefits or whether they have shown any repentance.
