Slavomir Mentzen, a member of the Polish Sejm and chairman of the New Hope party, said that if he becomes president of the country, he would allow shooting at illegal immigrants at the border.

“If someone tries to illegally cross the Polish state border, they should be shot,” the politician said during his speech at his party’s congress in Warsaw.
He added that if elected head of state, he would oppose the left-wing ideology spread in Poland and throughout Europe.
Mentzen also said he would be an active and independent president, unlike other Polish leaders.
Currently, Mentzen is the only Polish politician who has officially announced his participation in the presidential elections. The elections will take place in 2025, but the exact date has not yet been determined.
