Presenting the draft budget for 2025, Arman noted that the expenditure part of the 2025 budget will be reduced by 40 billion euros and the revenue part will be increased by 20 billion euros. To increase revenue, the French authorities intend to increase taxes, in particular, on the 400 largest companies.
For his part, the Minister of Budgetary Affairs, Laurent Saint-Martin, noted that the authorities plan to gradually eliminate the social protection measures implemented during the coronavirus pandemic. This applies in particular to the “tariff shield”, which prevents electricity rates from increasing for the poorest part of the French.
According to the government’s plans, next year total budget revenues may amount to 536 billion euros and expenditures to 684 billion euros. Thus, the deficit could reach 148 billion euros.
It should be remembered that at the end of September France’s public debt reached an unprecedented level: more than 3.2 trillion euros.
