More than a hundred exhibitors, mainly from Castile-Leon, Galicia, Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia, Valencian Community, La Rioja, Aragon, Castile-La Mancha and the Basque Country , are participating this weekend in the twentieth edition of the Spanish-Portuguese exhibition of organic products “Ecocultura 2024”, which is held at the Ifeza exhibition center in the capital Zamora.
“It is an important meeting to promote organic production and the marketing of all those associated with it,” recalled the president of the Provincial Delegation of Zamora, Javier Fáunez. This celebrated the fact that Ecocultura consolidated over these 20 years until it was “the most important event on the national calendar for organic production sectors” and “an incomparable platform” for professionals, producers, distributors and processors who wish to position the fruit of their work “in increasingly demanding and competitive markets”.
The president of the Provincial Council recalled that Castilla y León experienced a Thirteen percent increase in the number of green operatorsexceeding 2,100 and exceeding 113,000 hectares dedicated to the sector. “Zamora occupies second place in terms of the number of organic production operators, with 370, just behind Valladolid, and has recorded a growth of 41 percent,” he emphasized, in statements collected by Ical. Thus, he also highlighted that the province of Zamora leads the area certified in organic production with more than 23,000 hectares.
Ecoculture 2024
Faúndez was accompanied by the presence of the head of the Agricultural Service of Zamora, Rosa María Alonso, representing the Junta de Castilla y León, and the president of the Caja Rural de Zamora, Nicanor Santos, as well as national parliamentarians, mayors and advisors and members of state security forces and organs, among others.
During the inauguration, they were delivered two honorary awards to the people who contributed “notably” to Ecocultura successfully reaching its twentieth edition. Thus, Dacio Martín, one of the first farmers in the province of Zamora to have taken the step towards the organic production model, received the Pioneer Award. For his part, Vicente Sanz, from the Agrisanz company, received the Ambassador Award.
Food, cosmetics or crafts
Those who come to Ecocultura 2024 will find a wide assortment of products from sectors ranging from food and beverage, cosmetics, medicinal and aromatic herbs and crafts to bioconstruction and alternative energy, clothing and footwear, distribution, dairy and dairy products, preserved vegetables. and honey, etc. for bakery and confectionery, horticultural products, legumes, fruits, cereals and oil, as well as consumer associations and certification bodies.
The professional character of the show is enhanced by an extensive program of parallel activities, which includes lectures, round tables, training workshops, tastings and guided tastings.
Likewise, during the three days of the Fair, will take place activities for all audiences to encourage commitment to more responsible and sustainable consumption. Participants will be able to enjoy tastings of organic products, discover first-hand the work of local producers and participate in practical workshops promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
In addition to professional meetings, environmental education workshops for children, workshops for adults, guided tastings, popular tastings, culinary exhibitions with professionals from Spain and Portugal, live music and presentations and tastings of products are programmed.
