A fire caused by an electric scooter hit a house located in the basement of a building in Carabanchel. Up to 17 people required treatment for mild smoke inhalation, with three taken to hospital in mild condition.
As reported by Urgences Madrid, the fire broke out on Sunday around 6:45 p.m. on the electric scooter, apparently due to an explosion in its battery, which seriously affected the house in which it was located as well as the upper floors. In addition, this caused a large column of smoke
Firefighters from Madrid City Hall arrived on the scene to put out the fire and cool the affected apartment, in addition to evacuating the residents of the first damaged building and other homes. After inspecting the building, they confirmed that the fire had not caused structural damage to the rest of the properties located within the staircase.
Madrid police closed the street to traffic, as well as one lane of General Ricardos Street, while the Samur-PC took care of people suffering from smoke inhalation.
