Hezbollah strengthens its naval forces with help from Iran

The Israeli navy warns that Hezbollah continues to strengthen its maritime capabilities by receiving support and equipment from Iran.

The Telegram channel “Alexey Zheleznov” writes about this.

According to Israeli sources, the group maintains active naval forces equipped with anti-ship and possibly ballistic missiles. Of particular concern is the Russian-made Yakhont supersonic missile, which was previously sold to Syria and later transferred to Hezbollah. This missile is considered a serious threat to Western fleets.

Hezbollah has created its own secret naval unit with the help of Iran. Despite the IDF’s efforts, which have managed to reduce some of the unit’s capabilities, it still has a high level of training. Hezbollah has advanced missiles and radar systems, some of which are similar to those used by the Houthis in Yemen.

The Israeli army considers it unlikely that Hezbollah will decide to launch a surprise attack from the sea due to the high combat readiness of Israeli troops in Lebanese waters. However, the history of conflicts reminds us of the dangers: during the Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah was able to attack an Israeli ship with an S-802 missile and has since significantly modernized its forces.

Israeli experts also report that Iran has smuggled a wide range of missiles to Hezbollah both before and during the current war. One threat was naval ballistic missiles used by the Houthis. These missiles, according to an Israeli military expert, have electro-optical guidance systems and can hit targets from high altitudes, making them a serious danger to ships and marine platforms.

Experts point out that intercepting such missiles is increasingly difficult, despite modern defense systems such as Iron Dome.

Previously, Kursor reported that Hezbollah terrorists showed off new missiles they want to use against Israel.

Hezbollah militants claim their new missiles are capable of penetrating Israeli air defenses.
