It’s the government’s new plan to prevent phone scams that has reduced them by 90% in Finland

The government is preparing a set of measures to avoid phone scams. This will consist of block any fraudulent calls or messages this will enter the mobile. A model which is inspired by what has already been successfully implemented in other countries, such as France or Finland, where this type of fraud has almost been eradicated.

“In the case of Finland, where these measures have been in force the longest, the number of practices and frauds linked to these measures They have decreased by 90%” reports Antonio Hernando, Secretary of State for Telecommunications.

Among these measures stands out the prevention of calls, which apparently are not suspicious because they concern a normal number, but which in reality are occur via the Internet; are blocked if no operator has assigned this phone to a company or service. The same thing will happen if the call appears to be from Spain, but is actually from another country.

With these measures, the government plans to eradicate cases like that of Miguel, who does not have the confidence to make a single move since he was defrauded of 1,500 euros. “It’s hard for me to take calls and use the banking app,” he says because of what happened to him.

Additionally, a database to prevent cybercriminals from impersonating businesses or commercial businesses. This would prevent, for example, deceptions, such as these messages reporting supposed incidents in the parcel service. The Government intends for this plan to come into force in 2025.
