A book with the Virgin of Regla as the protagonist on the eve of Chipiona celebrating its patron saint

Given the proximity of the festivities in honor of the Virgin of Regla, which will be celebrated this Sunday, the publishing house Sevilla Press has launched the third updated edition of the book ‘Regla de Chipiona’. A work by journalist Miguel Gallardowhich was “the first book published on the patron saint of Chipiona and the Franciscan temple itself in 37 years,” the author says.

The new edition also includes the last extraordinary procession to mark the end of the coronavirus – with photos of the Virgin in front of the Chipiona lighthouse -, the incorporation into the Sanctuary of Santiago Apóstol and the Way of St. James from the Sanctuary of Reglathe visit of the Count of Regla for the first time to the Sanctuary and the publication of the book on the biography of the first Count of Regla, by the Doctor of History Pablo Borrallo.

The book offers a “broad and detailed” explanation of how the Virgin of Regla is present in the daily life of Chipiona, where she gives her name to a school, a house of Franciscan spirituality and to the patron saint festivals celebrated in September and culminates with the departure of the Virgin every day on September 8; this year, next Sunday.

Likewise, in the work, mention is made of more than twenty images venerated in the Sanctuary, including four of Saint Francis of Assisi, and other religious devotions such as the Virgin of Regla del Pinar, the Virgin of Carmen, the Virgin of Rocío and the Pregnant Virgin from the Portal of Belén de Regla and the Aposto Santiago. Also on the images treated during Holy Week in the city and They complement the devotions of the Chipioneros among many other historical data.

In this sense, the author of the book, Miguel Gallardo, assured that “Regla was the epicenter of Rocío Jurado’s lifethe first place I went to when I arrived in Chipiona and the last place I visited before leaving.” “He never missed the procession on September 8 and always proclaimed his faith.”
