Ramida Karamova, head of the Department of Complex Geochemical Research at the Center for Seismological Services of the Republic of Kazakhstan and doctor of geology and mineralogy, has passed away.

R. Karamova was reported to have died at the age of 77 after a long illness.
It should be noted that R. Karamova was born in 1947 in Baku. She received her higher education at the Faculty of Geological Exploration of Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University) with a degree in “Search and exploration of mineral deposits”. Later, she studied at the same university for a postgraduate degree in “hydrogeology”.
R. Karamova, the author of several scientific works, is also a member of the Association of Seismologists of Azerbaijan.
In 1979, for the first time in Azerbaijan, under the leadership of R. Karamova, a new scientific direction – seismogeochemistry – began to develop to solve the problems of seismic prediction of strong earthquakes and was created at the intersection of three fields of science – hydrogeology, geochemistry and seismology. The “SEISMOGEOCHEMICAL on-line” technology was created for the first time for operational assessment of the seismic situation based on seismofluidogeodynamic fields (SFGD) in the Caspian water area, in the territories of Azerbaijan and neighboring countries (Russia-Dagestan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Iran). It consists of 4 automated express methods. Mathematical formulas and algorithms for software were developed by R. Karamova.
R. Karamova developed a method for preventing accidents during drilling of geological prospecting wells based on SFGD monitoring.
