Juan Jesús González Alemán is a doctor of physics and senior state meteorologist. This is also the researcher from the National Meteorological Agency who, five days ago, warned, with an X-shaped message, against the dangerous potential of DANA, which caused at least 70 deaths during its passage in the Peninsula. However, his success has not stopped him from being ridiculed by many users since the publication of the message.
“If everything continues as predicted by the weather models over the next 5 days, this DANA, due to its characteristics and behavior, has a lot of potential to enter the high impact group. “One of those remembered from the Mediterranean side,” wrote González Alemán in his X account. The message was accompanied by a chart prepared on October 25 that showed the location of the storm at that time.
“But is it going to rain or not? In Córdoba, always the same amounts of data and alerts, then nothing,” one of the users responded to González Alemán. “We are all going to die, save yourself if you can. Now, seriously, I’m sick of reading DANA for my whole fucking life, in cold blood,” said another. Some of the first replies called the expert’s message “Apocalyptic, come on… Jjjj”, while another mocked its seriousness: We will see if it exceeds all expectations and becomes something EXTREME, brutal, monstrous, wild and unparalleled.
After knowing the impact that DANA has had in the Valencian Community, where she left at least 70 dead and the countless material damages due to flooding, users once again turned to González Alemán’s post to thank him for his work and criticize denialist statements about the consequences of climate change.
“Thank you for letting us know. To the comments that mock the work of experts and scientists, just remind them that at the moment there are 51 dead (including four children),” this user wrote, while another profile warned that “the alarmists are now”, “climate story”, you should delete the comments, if you have any modesty”, or they lamented that no one had paid “the slightest attention” to the warning from the expert.
Others even joked about the aging of certain messages published against the AEMET expert. “I come to see if the “illuminated” and those of “Orwellian control, they are not going to ban us from going out” have already deleted their messages after making a fool of themselves,” wrote an Internet user this Wednesday. “I came to see the comments of the “experts”…, replied another.
