The results of the study were published in the scientific journal PLOS One.

According to the information, scientists have excavated the central district and the residential complex surrounded by protective fortresses. A large quantity of ceramics and stones were found in the settlement, as well as the remains of at least 50 houses, probably made of clay.

In the center of al-Natah there are two buildings that may have been used as administrative buildings. To the west of this place a necropolis was discovered. High circular tombs resembling stepped towers are preserved.

The city in the Khyber oasis was abandoned for unknown reasons between 1500 and 1300 BC

According to scientists, the finding shows that urbanization in the Arabian Peninsula has been slow. At the time, larger cities were developing in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the eastern Mediterranean, and al-Natah’s population did not exceed 500 people.
