Atlético Front are the parents

The Front Atlético has been filling the backdrop of the Calderón (and now the Metropolitana) with fascist insignia and cries for decades, but it doesn’t exist. He has been involved in hundreds of incidents inside and outside the capital, but this is just a simple entelechy. He killed two people, but he is a vain phantom of fog and light, as Bécquer said. The Front Atlético (or better, in Rajoy terminology, this group of colchoneros supporters you are talking about) does not exist. Atlético Front is the parents.

Such a ruckus was created with the derby throwing of objects, and the match was so close to being permanently suspended, that even a press accustomed to looking the other way in this matter removed the cobwebs from the issue: are you going to do something about it? No one from Atlético responded publicly, but the leaked response is in perfect harmony with the content of my first paragraph: we cannot do anything, for the simple reason that Front Atlético does not exist.

It’s a shame, my boy. We would love to put an end to these kaffirs who have projected such a terrible image of our club, but you will understand that by not existing, we are going through a really difficult time. They assure from the red and white management that, because the group is not recognized by the club, they cannot do anything. “By not being part of the club list, there is no solution in our hands.”

People complain about everything, given that, when you think about it, what more could you ask of the excellent San Blas club than the non-recognition of the existence of Front Atlético? Is there perhaps a more restrictive measure to eradicate it? There are Front Atlético deniers at the helm (forgive the dismissal) of Atleti, and I can’t think of a better philosophy to wipe it off the face of the earth. Let the WHO learn from this and exclude malaria from its list of diseases in force in the world. Nothing would spoil the Anopheles mosquito more.

The Atlético Front are the parents even if, as happens with them on the night of January 5, they leave gifts. Sometimes they appear hanging on the Christmas tree in the macabre form of a black doll dressed in a white T-shirt (the Front’s official anthem, if it exists, would have to be Billie Holiday’s Strange Fruit). Other times, they are sonic gifts, throaty chants with mournful harmonies. Some years, if you’ve been particularly good, they leave you a corpse, but they don’t exist. They are sages of the new fascism and therefore mere myths. How to combat a myth? Poor Cerezo and Gil Marín are tied hand and foot before their invisible enemy. The Athletic Front is like the disconcerting plague in the film The Shyamalan Incident, which kills silently, without leaving a trace. Who follows a ghost’s trail, especially if the person who named it a ghost was myself?

Three-quarters of the same thing happens to stunned Mayor Martínez Almeida. He had a public appearance yesterday on this subject, and the words Frente Atlético did not come out of his mouth. It’s like when you watch The Godfather, in none of the three very long episodes is the word Mafia heard. Clear. Why name what doesn’t exist? The mayor can say that he is Indian in many ways, among other things because he does not hide it, but above all because he does not know how to say Frente Atlético. He even tried to camouflage the term by assimilating the vowels (franta atlátaca, frontal etléteque…), but in vain. The most eminent speech therapists tried to get the words out of his mouth, but without success, and I applaud him without hesitation. This is the best strategy. They say nothing makes the devil happier than denying his existence, but that’s a lie. The damage caused to the Front Atlético by ignoring that it is part of this world (and even more: from the stands of the Metropolitano, where we see it day after day) is incalculable.

In return, Almeida showed moving firmness against “the people” who ruined her on Sunday. “The people.” Atleti himself has become extremely serious with people, or with the person (there is something to start with, don’t let anyone be choosy). They arrested one. Very pleasant. One excited tweeter insisted that Front Atlético doesn’t exist, of course, but such a philosophical obstacle didn’t stop Koke from greeting someone who was at his wedding when he went to calm things down. Hopefully they didn’t stop this one by mistake.

Atlético Front are the parents and, as such, they meet the players to scold them when they lose, in the club premises. In the stands, they are hooded, which is a nice way of externally reflecting their non-existence. Now Atleti have announced they will ban people from entering their stadium in hoods, which poses a metaphysical conflict of the ciborium: not existing and having a face poses an existential challenge to stand your ground and not move. Let’s see how they do. The club is confident he will do very well. At Atleti, as is the case with parents, they idealized their non-existent Front. The Front Atlético does not exist but, as is supposed to happen with parents, it reigns. Not existing and imposing. We cannot imagine a more beautiful allegory of the world.
