Belarus invites Kazakhstan to intensify bilateral cooperation

Belarus and Kazakhstan must ensure positive dynamics in bilateral trade. This was stated today, November 14, by the Belarusian Prime Minister, Roman Golovchenko, during negotiations with his Kazakh counterpart, Olzhas Bektenov.

“Since gaining independence, Belarus and Kazakhstan have come a long way in developing and strengthening good relations and have built strong ties of friendship and partnership. The heads of our states share warm and trusting relations. Countries interact effectively within the framework of integration entities and international organizations. We are important business partners for each other. A few years ago, we crossed the billion-dollar mark in mutual trade. Close cooperation is supported at the level of industries, regions, companies and organizations not only in the commercial and economic sphere, but also in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, science, education, sports and tourism. In fact, today we have no areas left that are not covered by interaction. And this is also a great achievement.” – said.

Roman Golovchenko noted that the most important component of relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan is trade and economic cooperation.

“This area requires tireless attention and constant coordination by governments, including within the framework of the intergovernmental commission, headed by the first deputy prime ministers of our countries. Under the auspices of the intergovernmental commission, a roadmap for the development of trade and economic cooperation for the period 2025-2029 has been drawn up. In the next five years we will have to implement areas of joint work and guarantee the implementation of this important document.” — stressed the Belarusian Prime Minister.

He also noted that at the end of 2023, commercial turnover decreased slightly for several reasons.

“Accordingly, our main task in the near future is to ensure the restoration of the positive dynamics of bilateral trade and take measures to replenish the mutual supply of declining commodities… One of the main drivers for intensifying trade and economic cooperation It must be the interaction. in the industrial sector. We successfully carried out cooperation. I am sure that the potential for interaction in this avenue has not been fully exploited. The high level of localization, the constant expansion of the range of products and production volumes indicate the promise of this sector and confirm the mutual interest in its future development. In terms of the supply of finished products, Belarusian companies are ready to meet the needs of Kazakhstan in municipal, logging, road construction and grain drying complexes. “Our manufacturers are ready to provide support for equipment commissioning, operator training, warranty and service at the highest level.” – said Golovchenko and suggested considering the possibility of organizing joint production of fire-fighting and rescue equipment.

In addition, he stated that Belarus is ready to supply amino acids and premixes to Kazakhstan, as well as to implement projects in the housing and communal services sector.

“Mutual trade is a two-way street. To maintain a balanced trade volume, we are ready to support the supply of Kazakhstani goods to Belarus by all possible means. Marketing and sales specialists in our companies should actively work in this regard. “We are interested in the supply of industrial products, cotton fiber, vegetables, cereals, etc., from Kazakhstan.” — concluded the head of the Belarusian government.

Recall that Belarus has been under strict Western sanctions since 2020. In this regard, Minsk is intensifying cooperation with friendly countries, including within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union.
