Former Socialist Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve and the President of Les Républicains (LR) of Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, will be received on Monday 2 September by Emmanuel Macron, still in search of a head of government, almost two months after the legislative elections that led to a hung National Assembly.
The announcement of these meetings is a sign of an acceleration of the consultations led by Emmanuel Macron, which are entering their final phase after 55 days of political crisis. The names of former ministers, one from the left and one from the right, are regularly mentioned as candidates for the leadership of the government in this complex political configuration.
Bernard Cazeneuve will open the ball at 8.45 a.m. The Head of State will then meet his predecessors, François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy. The singer of the social right, Xavier Bertrand, also a former minister, will arrive at the Elysée in the afternoon.
According to his entourage, the Head of State should skip the start of the school year on Monday and the meeting could take place on Tuesday.
