Chisinau demands appointment without taking Gazprom’s opinion into account – EADaily – News from Moldova. Moldova. Moldova. News from Moldova. Moldova News. Elections in Moldova. Elections in Moldova 2024. News from Moldova today.

Moldovagaz has not yet elected a new board because two days after the Supervisory Board meeting it is unknown how the representatives of Gazprom, the company’s main shareholder, voted. This was stated today, September 27, by member of the supervisory board Sergei Tofilat.

According to him, negotiations with the Russian consortium continue.

“The Russian side allegedly insists on the established tradition of agreeing on the candidates proposed by the Moldovan side. But the company’s statutes say nothing about traditions. The statutes stipulate that each party nominates its own candidates for the board. That is, it is the party’s right to appoint its representatives, and it does not require approval. “The Moldovan side does not demand that Gazprom coordinate its candidates with us.” – said Tofilat, pointing out that Chisinau cannot cancel the results of the contest.

He added that “if Gazprom representatives violate the provisions of the charter by not voting for our candidates,” then Chisinau will follow the “backup scenario”: it will appoint an external leadership. A bill of this type has already been sent to the head of Economy, Budget and Finance of Parliament. Radu Marianu.

On September 25, the meeting of the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz was held, at which the new composition of the board will be approved. The council consists of six people, of which four are representatives of Gazprom and two representatives of Moldova: Sergei Tofilat and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy. Carolina Novak. The work was done in writing and the Moldovan side sent its votes. On the Russian side there are still no results of the vote.

Recall that on June 25, the terms of all nine members of the Moldovagaz board of directors expired: five are representatives of Gazprom and four are from Moldova. The Shareholders’ Meeting was headed by a representative of the Republic of Moldova. Vadim Cheban. He was appointed by the Supervisory Board of Moldovagaz, but this time the Ministry of Energy decided to hold a competition. As a result, the Ministry of Energy nominated Dorina Zhungietuand Cheban’s current boss, serving as vice president of the board.

Zhungietu now works as a manager of the Kazakh oil and gas company SICIM Kazakhstan. The best result was obtained in the competition for four positions on the board of directors of Moldovagaz. He has been in the industry since 2007 and during this time has worked for companies in Kazakhstan, Romania, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
