The capital of Córdoba once again becomes the epicenter of botany and contemporary floral art with the celebration of the seventh edition of Flora 2024, organized by Zizai Cultura, and which will take place from October 14 to 25.

The leitmotif, on this occasion, will be ‘Multi-species’a theme which invites us to address the need “to go beyond this conception of reality which places the human being as the absolute owner of the natural space”, underlines Flora.

The event is structured in two phases: a first assemblyin which visitors will be able to discover the process by which the different installations take shape; and that of exposure himself of different creations. In addition, in parallel, a series of complementary activities will take place, in collaboration with the ‘Stop’ program of Flore, with a thirty suggestions who seek to expand the festival through new formats, in addition to encouraging the participation of Cordoban society and remaining faithful to its vocation of “building a city”.

The Mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, together with the organizers and sponsors of the festival, officially presented the event this Monday at the Palacio de Orive. As the city councilor pointed out, “Flora raises the curtain on the Cordoban autumn. There are two weeks left before the reunion with an event in which some of the most prestigious floral artists at international level will meet and which has become a “Córdoba” brand icon; a resounding art that extends from the patio of Cordoba to all the installations of Flora, and which benefits from more support with each edition”, he underlined. Installations: artists and spaces

The heart of Flora will be, as always, its installations, by five artists from Germany, Canada, the United States, Singapore and also Spain, who will reinvent as many spaces with their installations (from 18 to 24 October) and will choose at the Prix de Flore I and II 2024.

Inside Orive Palace You can see the proposal ‘Fusión’, from the German Carolin Ruggaber, winning artist of the Patio Talento 2024 call, an initiative that offers the possibility of participating in Flora to emerging artists or collectives who have never made a large format plant installation. . This designer stands out for a style that seeks to harmoniously combine the vibrant influences of urban life with a deep appreciation of nature.

Lauren Sellen (Toronto, Canada, 1984), the creator of Coyote Flowers, will present ‘The Frayed Being’ at the Viana Palace. This floral artist has been expressing herself for a decade through botany, in compositions that often opt for monochrome and “less is more” in the number of plant varieties used.

The third installation is entitled ‘Investments’, by the American Emily Thompson, which will be exhibited at the Patio of Orange Trees of the Mosque-Cathedral. Described by the great florist of the British Royal House Shane Connolly as “the best florist in the world”, she preferably uses local materials, emphasizing the power of nature to impose its beauty. In her designs, flowers, pods, fruits, branches and weeds unusual in more conventional floral art can coexist.

The Spaniard Eugenio Ampudia, in collaboration with Alexandre Banegaswill exhibit “A plant thought” at the Vimcorsa Room. Ampudia clearly expressed his deep concern for nature. The Concert for the Biocene stands out, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), organized after the Covid pandemic, where 2,292 plants were able to enjoy the performance of the play “Crisantemi” by Giacomo Puccini.

Espejo Jiménez, Antonio J. Díaz and Eduardo Barba will participate .

Flora 2024 will have its ‘Off’ program which, in its third edition, is composed of 29 activities organized by artists, groups, businesses and institutions from downtown and outside Córdoba.
