The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed Du al-Faqar Hanauwi, commander of a Hezbollah division, as a result of a targeted attack in Beirut, the army’s press service reported on Tuesday.
“On October 1, 2024, IDF forces eliminated the terrorist Du al-Faqar Hanauwi, commander of the Imam Hussein division of the Hezbollah movement. Having received accurate information, IDF fighters carried out a targeted attack on Beirut and destroyed it.” – says the message.
The press service added that Hanauwi previously led Hezbollah units in the Syrian city of Aleppo, after which he was appointed division commander. The report states that Hanauvi was liquidated along with Muhammad Jaouad Kathirwhich was responsible for supplying weapons to the fighters of the movement from Iran to Lebanon.
On Tuesday night, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a ground operation in the neighboring state, saying it would be “limited” in nature.
