Illa maintains the Diada designed by Aragonès with a message of “rejection of fascism”

The government of Salvador Illa has maintained the essence of the institutional proposal for the National Day of Catalonia designed by the previous executive of Father Aragonès, with an integrating message that invites us to “reject fascism” to commemorate September 11.

The common thread of the Generalitat’s proposal for this Day is to celebrate “the feeling of pride and Catalanness based on inclusion, respect and the celebration of differences”. “Catalonia is a welcoming country, enriched by diversity, which celebrates difference and rejects fascism”, reads the Diada institutional events dossier.

The Government spokesperson, Councilor Sílvia Paneque, presented this Wednesday the graphic image, slogan and institutional acts of the Diada. The poster was designed by Sergi Delgado and is composed of geometric lines that form a heart in the colors of the Senyera. The chosen motto is “Many hearts, one heartbeat.”

Paneque highlighted the values of “unity, diversity and transversality” for the Diada. “It is a message against fascism and the extreme right,” added the spokesperson, who stressed that the design’s message brings together three concepts: “unity, identity and love or affection.”

The main novelty regarding the Aragonès stage is that Illa recovers the institutional message of the Diada of the Palau de la Generalitat after the former president transmitted it from other places in recent years.

Paneque said that it is the Diada of “everyone”. “Anyone who lives in Catalonia thinks what they think and says what they say”, he stressed. The councilor also commented on the elements “against fascism and the extreme right”. “These are exclusive projects that point to diversity as a problem and not as an asset”, said the spokesman for the extreme right.

Regarding institutional events, the Government will carry out the traditional floral offering at the monument to Rafael Casanova on September 11 at nine in the morning. It will also participate in the institutional event that will take place at night in the Four Columns of Puig and Cadafalch, in Barcelona. It will be directed by the actress and screenwriter Marta Bayarri, who has set the objective of “bringing it closer to the youngest.”

Bayarri did not want to reveal the details of the program, but said it would be a “transversal and transgenerational act.” There will be “very relevant” musical artists, testimonies from different sectors of society such as literature, sports or science, or elements of popular festivals.
