From August 22 to September 21, more than 300 thousand tons of cargo were transported on Afghanistan’s railways. This was reported by the country’s Ministry of Public Works.
According to ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf HakshenasMore than 8 thousand tons of these products were exported, mainly nuts and pomegranate juice.
“More than 317 thousand tons of various goods were transported, of which more than 250 thousand tons passed through the port of Hairatan. The rest was transported through other ports, including oil, liquefied gas, wheat, flour, vegetable oil, food and construction materials.” – he explained.
According to the ministry, Afghanistan currently has 260 kilometers of operational railway lines connecting the country with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran, facilitating daily transportation to countries in the region.
