The decision on further actions was discussed in a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While Blinken called for restraint in actions, he affirmed Israel’s right to self-defense.
Statements were made from the UN rostrum about Iran’s willingness to respond to any “aggressive” action by Israel. The Iranian envoy to the UN noted that his country did not initiate attacks against Israel, but only responded within the framework of international law. Tehran accuses Israel of committing crimes with the support of the United States.
