Juan Miguel Ferrer, new president of CAEB Restauración Mallorca

Juan Miguel Ferrer will be the new president of CAEB Restauración Mallorca, replacing the current president of the entity Alphonse Robledo after almost a decade in power. This was announced by the CAEB through a press release in which it was stated that Ferrer held the position of vice president and had been linked to the organization for more than 20 years.

In this sense, they stressed that Ferrer assumes the presidency with the determination to maintain the line of work that has characterized CAEB Restauración in recent years and “aware of the significant challenges that the sector will have to face in the immediate future.”

From the entity, they stressed that the new president maintains a vision of continuity but that he also recognizes that he will have to “face challenges in a complex context for the sector”, such as the negotiation of the new labor agreement or the impact of a certain recession in the tourist emission markets that, according to him, has caused a significant drop in income in the catering sector.

He also referred to protests against, according to him, a “an incomprehensible tourist overpopulation” which “negatively affects the image of the Balearic Islands abroad”.

On the other hand, they stressed that Alfonso Robledo played a “fundamental role” in representing and defending the interests of the restaurant sector in the Islands. Thus, they recalled that it was under his presidency that the organization addressed the pandemic crisis.

Today, after handing over the reins to Juan Miguel Ferrer, Robledo assumes the presidency of the Federation of Balearic Catering Companies (Ferib) with the aim of uniting the interests of the sector on all the islands and strengthening the presence of the Balearic Islands at a national level, promoting the Balearic product and the concept of kilometre zero.

Finally, they stressed that this transition to the presidency of CAEB Restauración is part of a consensual strategy within the sector, which seeks “reorganize skills and responsibilities to strengthen their representativeness and successfully meet current and future challenges.”

“The common objective is clear: to give a strong boost to the representativeness of the restoration, ensuring that the defense of its interests is always taken into account when making strategic decisions that will appear on the political and economic agenda of the coming months and years,” concluded Ferrer.
