The Llar d’Ancians started the program On an ageless bike which aims to combat unwanted loneliness, promote intergenerational relationships and reconnect older people with their environment and community.
It is a voluntary action implemented with great success in other Spanish and European cities which, for the first time, arrives in the Balearic Islands thanks to the Mallorca Integra Foundation, in collaboration with MBW Proa Premium and the “la Caixa” Foundation.
Users with reduced mobility or those without family of the Llar d’Ancians residence, managed by the Mallorcan Institute of Social Affairs (IMAS) in Palma, will be the first in the autonomous community to be able to benefit from this innovative and simple. at the time, which proposed electric tricycle outings with capacity for up to two people, to walk around Palma, visit its old quarter, see the Christmas lights or the sea, accompanied by a volunteer who is the driver.
“This is a project that contributes to promoting active, healthy and integrated aging within the community, in which we are committed at IMAS,” highlighted the vice-president of the island institution, Magdalena García, who thanked Mallorca for its work Integra, MBW. The vice-president of IMAS closed the presentation ceremony of On an ageless bikein which the government’s Minister of Family and Social Affairs also participated, Catalina Cirer, the island director of social and health care of the Consell de Mallorca, Rosa Lloberaadvisor for seniors and interculturality of Palma town hall, Maria Luisa Marquesas well as representatives of the sponsoring entities and directors of the Mallorca Integra Foundation, Catalina Miralles and Aurora Sampol, who will coordinate and lead this project.
