“The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and countries that are members of the bank’s Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program are making effective efforts to further strengthen regional cooperation.”
This was stated by the Minister of Economy, Mikail Jabbarov, at the “Ministerial Meeting on the Partnership on Climate, Innovation and Trade (CAREC)” held within the framework of COP29.
According to him, Azerbaijan is committed to promoting stronger regional cooperation and integration:
“Azerbaijan and the countries of Central Asia share a unique historical, cultural and geopolitical space that is increasingly important on the global stage. In this sense, the current program plays a vital role in unifying the region for joint development and Sustainable. For twenty years, the CAREC program has made a significant contribution to the development of our region. The program supports the strengthening of regional links by investing in high-quality projects in various sectors, including new priority areas, and at the same time. Time acts as a catalyst. regional cooperation in research, knowledge exchange and best practices”.
ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa emphasized that it is time to act decisively for a low-carbon future that prioritizes environmental sustainability and economic prosperity in CAREC member countries:
“By coming together in purpose and action, we can create sustainable change for future generations. The ADB stands ready to support every step of the way in this transformation.”
It should be noted that the main objective of the CAREC program established by the ADB in 1997 is the promotion of economic cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, the South Caucasus and South Asia.
