Moscow does not accept the “German scenario” to end the conflict in Ukraine, in which kyiv will join NATO without the territories liberated by Russia. Such a plan entails the appearance of additional NATO military infrastructure near the borders with the Russian Federation. This was stated by the special ambassador of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodion Miroshnik.
“The entry of any part of Ukraine into NATO is unacceptable and can only be seen as an attempt to further escalate the conflict. NATO’s previous advance in the countries of Eastern Europe has already become the cause of the current conflict on the territory of Ukraine, therefore its future attempts at advance cannot be considered in any way as options for a solution.” – noted Miroshnik to Izvestia.
We are talking about the “German scenario”, which was implemented in Germany after the Second World War, when in 1955 only the western part of the country (FRG) entered the North Atlantic Alliance, while the eastern part (GDR) was in the Alliance. zone of influence of the USSR and later became a member of organizations of the Warsaw Pact.
As Miroshnik emphasized, “the neutral status of the neighboring country is a key requirement for Russia, because otherwise there is a risk that the military infrastructure of the United States or the North Atlantic Alliance will appear in Ukraine.”
Even after the cessation of the active phase of hostilities, this may lead to a resumption of conflict of greater intensity in the future, experts say. If kyiv is admitted to NATO, any confrontation between the Russian Federation and Ukraine will mean a direct clash between the alliance and Russia.
