Supporters of Taiwan independence will not be able to stop the historic process of the island’s final reunification with mainland China. This was stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his speech at a state reception at the House of the People (Parliament) on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, TASS reports.
“Taiwan is a sacred territory of China. People living on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are connected by blood, and blood is thicker than water. We should adhere to the “one China” principle and the “1992 consensus” and deepen economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.” – said the Chinese leader.
According to him, Beijing intends to help maintain “the spiritual connection of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.”
“The Chinese government will resolutely oppose the separatist activities of the island’s independence supporters and achieve the complete reunification of the motherland,” Xi Jinping further said.
He added that the unity of mainland China and Taiwan is in line with the common aspirations of Chinese compatriots both at home and abroad.
“This is a great trend, of great importance and that reflects popular sentiment. “No one can stop the wheel of history.” – concluded the head of the People’s Republic of China.
