Palma lights up for another year, this Saturday, November 23 city christmas lightsin a day full of activities and shows for the whole family.
In a press release, the municipal council indicated that it had given the starting signal for Christmas events with the Christmas lights lighting event, which took place this Saturday.
The event began at 7:00 p.m. with three simultaneous parades, with the participation of more than 50 artistsinspired by characters from other planets, who took different routes: “Cabalia”, which started from Calle de la Riera, continued through Unió and ended at Rei Joan Carles I; “Els Visitants”, which started from Feixina, passing through Passeig Sagrera to Antoni Maura, and the “Safari Luminic àlien”, which started from Sant Miquel and continued through Plaza Major and ended in Cort.
Subsequently, there was other actions in different districts of the city center. In the Plaza del Mercat the circus show “La maquina dels desitjos” took place, with aerial acrobatics, juggling and light shows.
For its part, the Plaza de Cort hosted the artistic representation of the origin of the universe and human evolutioncreated with sand drawings and live music projected simultaneously on a screen.
In addition, in the Plaza de la Reina it was possible to enjoy the show ‘Asteroide’, in which dance, music and aerial theater combined to tell children’s stories. Concretely, it was an aerial theater show in which different acrobats, several meters above the ground, told the story based on the classic “The Little Prince” by Anthony of Saint-Exupéry.
Likewise, a permanent installation of abstract sculptures complemented the futuristic atmosphere of the city.
It was 8:30 p.m. when the traditional countdown to turning on the Christmas lightschaired by the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martinezaccompanied by other members of the municipal corporation.
This year, the symbolic lighting was carried out by the Nemo Foundation entity, dedicated to giving visibility and support to neurodiversity in childhood and youth.
New this year two spaces have been activatedPlaza de Cort and Plaza de la Reina, so that participants can enjoy the start of the Christmas season in Palma in comfort and safety.
It should be remembered that the Infrastructure domain has installed more than 59 kilometers of garlands and other decorative elements, including streamers, stars, tents and trees, expanding Christmas to more neighborhoods in “Ciutat”.
