Prosecutor calls for secret investigation into alleged digital art investment ‘crypto club’ scam that paid Alvise

The prosecution ruled in favor of the National Court which is investigating the fraud complaints filed against Madeira Investment Cluba cryptoasset investment club specializing in digital art in NFT format.

Following the blocking of its accounts in Portugal, the group of companies recently closed its website and stopped payments to its investorswhich led dozens of them to band together and file several complaints. The first of them fell before the Central Investigating Court number 4 of the National Court.

Its owner, Judge José Luis Calama, opened proceedings and asked the prosecutor’s office for a report in which he ruled, for or against, on the investigation into these events. And whether or not it was this judicial body that did it.

In response, the Public Ministry sent a report to the magistrate on Tuesday in favor of the National Court being the one to investigate these events and combine the three complaints that exist so far in the same procedure. Prosecutor Joaquín González also requests that this be done within the framework of a secret room.

The owner of Madeira Invest Club is Alvaro Romilloknown by its internet nickname, CryptoSpain. This businessman presented a letter to the prosecutor’s office barely two weeks ago in which he admitted having paid 100,000 euros in cash to Alvise Pérez to finance the electoral campaign which led him to obtain a seat in the European Parliament.

This action could constitute, on the part of Pérez, a possible crime of illegal party financing. The Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office will be the one to investigate if this is the case.

Romillo also attached dozens of conversations between himself and the politician, the authenticity of which was confirmed by an expert. In several of them, before and after his arrival in Brussels, Alvise promises cryptoentrepreneur that will benefit your businesses and will do “massive lobbying” from the heart of Europe in favor of its common interests and “financial freedom”.

After hearing the news of the payment of 100,000 euros, the already MEP, through a video, admitted to having received such a sum “in black”. But he claimed that these were his “fees” for services he provided “without issuing an invoice”, since “the Treasury is a mafia”.

In April 2024, two months before his election as an MEP, Alvise promoted the Madeira Invest Club during a public event held at the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela, Madrid. There, microphone in hand, he thanked the existence of this investment platform as part of the fight against “a criminal state”.

Now the crypto club This was indicated in 2023 by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). The supervisor warned that Madeira did not have the necessary licenses for the investments it was proposing. Despite this, a few months later Pérez participated in the event.
