Catalan singer Rosalía is in Valencia, where she joined the group of volunteers who have been helping for days the populations most affected by the passage of DANA. According to Spanish television, Rosalía was unloading trucks with food and equipment needed for cleaning with chef José Andrés’ NGO, World Central Kitchen.
This Thursday the singer was photographed with chef José Andrés and posed with other workers and volunteers in the field, although she herself has not published anything about it on social networks at the moment. The artist actually used his networks last week to ask for help from those affected by DANA in a message broadcast to his more than 27 million followers.
The NGO World Central Kitchen has been working for a week in Valencia, where it has distributed more than 150,000 meals with the collaboration of more than a hundred volunteers, cooks and restaurants, as published by the organization.
According to data published by the EFE agencyit is estimated that between 45,000 and 50,000 volunteers went to “ground zero” of the disaster in the first days, mainly to bring food and help with clean-up efforts. These figures only correspond to the first week after the floods, between last Wednesday and Sunday.
The majority of volunteers are “very conscious” young people from the city of Valencia and other villages in the metropolitan area, who walked several kilometers to bring water and food in the first days, and from Friday they will mainly focus on cleaning mud and sludge from houses and streets equipped with masks, boots, brooms, buckets and other cleaning items. Over the weekend, the influx of volunteers exploded and many people continue to travel to the most affected cities to lend a helping hand.
