Scandal involving Iranian advisor at Beirut airport – media published details

An incident occurred at Beirut airport involving the escort of Iranian leader Ali Larijani’s senior advisor. Al-Akhbar, a newspaper close to Hezbollah, reported that airport security forces insisted on searching the Iranian delegation’s luggage despite objections based on diplomatic immunity.

According to the publication, the incident began after Larijani’s entourage protested against the inspection of their suitcases, which apparently contained protocol gifts. The commander of airport security forces, Lieutenant Colonel Fadi al-Kafoury, decided to inspect all diplomatic missions in accordance with “strict instructions.”

The newspaper claims that such actions are due to political pressure from the United States. According to sources, this attitude at the airport is observed only towards Iranian delegations, unlike Western and Arab officials, who do not face similar procedures.

This incident caused widespread resonance and criticism of the Lebanese Interior Minister, Bassam al-Moulavi, and Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Opposition forces say such measures are part of the US policy of pressure on Hezbollah and Iran.

In addition, the incident is associated with other restrictive measures against Iran, including the ban on the landing of planes from Iraq and Iran, as well as inspections of representatives of the Iranian embassy in Lebanon.

Previously, Cursor wrote that the IDF reported the success of the operation to attack Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
