Shooting at UN vehicle in Gaza: Israel admits it was a mistake

Israel has admitted that the shooting of a UN vehicle in Gaza was due to a mistake. According to information provided by Israel to the United States, an initial investigation found that shots were fired at a clearly marked World Food Programme (WFP) vehicle in Gaza due to a “communication error” between IDF units.

Telegram channel “Alexey Zheleznov” writes about this.

US Deputy Ambassador to the UN Robert Wood, in his speech at a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Gaza, demanded that the Israeli side immediately eliminate the problems in its system that could lead to such an incident.

Wood also stressed that Israel must not only acknowledge its responsibility for what happened, but also take concrete steps to ensure that the IDF no longer allows attacks against UN personnel.

Earlier, Kursor reported on an attack on trucks transporting humanitarian aid to Gaza.

While they were driving, unknown armed men seized the lead vehicle and changed their route.

Cursor also reported on how the IDF operated in the Gaza Strip on the night of August 29.

On the evening of August 29, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continued to conduct active military operations in the Gaza Strip. Information about the fighting came from local sources.

According to available information, the IDF’s main ground operations are concentrated in the central and southern parts of the Strip, while attacks are taking place throughout Gaza. The intensity of hostilities remains high.

In the northern sector, IDF air force and artillery attacked targets in Zaytoun, which is located in the southeast of Gaza City. An airstrike also hit a building next to the Al-Amal hotel in the Ansar district, west of the city, leaving some dead and wounded. Another strike hit the Club family home in Shati, on the western edge of Gaza City, where injuries were also reported.

In the central part of the sector, one person was reported killed in Dir al-Balah as a result of an IDF strike, as well as two children killed in Nuseirat. The IDF targeted the homes of the Al-Hawajri and Al-Ajla families in Nuseirat, causing casualties. In the south of the sector, IDF artillery continued to shell targets in Rafah.

The IDF has not yet commented on the operations carried out on the night of August 29.
