The best modern historical miniseries devours Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ in its entirety and you can watch it online

The Roman Empire leaves us one of the most memorable series in history

This is a unique story about one of the most visceral moments in the Roman Empire.

Recently we talked to you about I, Claudio, one of the best historical miniseries that can be seen. Now it is time to talk to you about a much more recent subject but It’s also about Rome. and whose capacity to to overcome Gladiator at the level of reliable fiction is very high. Let’s see their strong points.

This specific series has two seasons, so it could be considered without any problem a mini-series. Unfortunately, the sets caught fire and, being very expensive, they didn’t dare restart it. A shame.

A really interesting journey through the Roman Empire

The final stage of the Roman Republic. Julius Caesar has emerged victorious in Gaul and marches towards Rome with the intention of becoming the most powerful man in the city. There he has a series of projects that, if successful, could change the way the city on the Tiber understands itself. However, to achieve this, he will have to overcome the rival camp, the optimize rich men who don’t want things to change.

Along the way, he will have to strengthen his alliances, generate new ones and oppose his rivals in the advent of a more than predictable civil war that could end Rome’s power forever. However, Caesar’s habit of not completely destroying his enemies will make him pay a heavy price.

Much better than “Gladiator”

Gladiator This is one of my favorite movies, but historically it has a series of errors that make what happens throughout the movie make no sense. While Gladiator uses the Roman Empire to tell a modern story about power, social progress and the status of the United States in a geopolitical framework – something Scott is very familiar with – in Rome we find a series that really talking about Rome and it tells one of the most fascinating stages of its history.

So we will see a incredible detail and care with complete historical fidelity. From the incredible representation of the streets of Rome in the Senate or the way of waging war that the Republican legionnaires had.

Watch “Rome” on Max

We can enjoy all this thanks to the Max catalog in which there is this series that was once produced by the always excellent HBO. To do this, we will need a subscription to the platform.
