At least 112 people died and around 70 were missing as a result of heavy rains that fell in and around Kathmandu over the weekend.
Oku.Az TASS reports that the highest rainfall since 1970 was recorded in the capital of Nepal. As a result, flooding and landslides occurred in low-lying areas.
According to the Himalayan State Meteorological Centre, an average of 240 and 322 mm of rain fell in Kathmandu.
Police spokesman Dan Bahadur Karki told reporters that the death toll could rise as rescue operations continue. Rescue teams have transported more than three thousand people to safe places. Helicopters and motor boats participated in the operations.
