- Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ running mate in the White House race, and James David Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, will meet on Tuesday 1Ahem October in New York, from 9 pm local time. – Three in the morning from Tuesday to Wednesday, Paris time – for the last televised debate of the US presidential campaign.
- The debate, which will last an hour and a half, will be broadcast by the American network CBS News. It will be hosted by two women: CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and Face the Nation anchor Margaret Brennan.
- Like the duel between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the debate will take place without an audience. On the other hand, the microphone of the candidate who is not speaking will remain on when his opponent speaks, but the channel will reserve the right to cut it if it deems necessary. No questions will be sent to candidates prior to the live broadcast. Each candidate will have two minutes to answer each question from journalists and two minutes to react to their opponent’s response. Everyone will also have two minutes for their final statement.
- This debate comes just over a month before the US presidential election on November 5. while the Democratic and Republican candidates remain tied in the polls.
- Republican JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, 40, is a senator from Ohio. Opposed to abortion, even in cases of incest or rape, he leads a very right-wing campaign and uses violent rhetoric against immigrants in his meetings.
- Democrat Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ running mate, 60, is governor of Minnesota. Elected progressive from a fairly conservative state, he defends in particular the right to abortion and gun control.
- This will be the first meeting between Tim Walz and JD Vance, and like Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, this should be their only debate.
