An agreement on the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to Egypt is expected to be signed during Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi’s planned visit to Ankara on September 4.

As part of Sisi’s first official visit to Turkey, a meeting of the high-level strategic cooperation council will be held to discuss the prospects of increasing bilateral trade between the two countries from $10 billion to $15 billion annually. The main topic on Sisi’s negotiation agenda with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The sides will also discuss in detail the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Libya and other regional issues.
It should be noted that Erdogan visited Egypt for the first time in 12 years in February 2024 as part of the process of normalizing relations. In 2013, both countries recalled their ambassadors following the overthrow of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and Ankara’s negative reaction to it. In March 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the restoration of diplomatic relations with Egypt. In July 2023, both countries fully restored diplomatic relations by appointing ambassadors in Ankara and Cairo.
