Villava will build a new bridge to avoid flooding

The Directorate of Territorial Cohesion of the Provincial Government, through the General Directorate of Public Works and Infrastructurelaunched a call for tenders, worth 110,000 euros (VAT included), for the development of the construction project of the new San Andrés bridge, in Villava.

The project will consist of construction of a new bridge and demolition of the current oneas well as a bank protection wall and the removal of islands of alluvial deposits.

The San Andrés Bridge, said the regional government, is one of the critical points of the Ultzama River. The level of the river passing this point experiences a very pronounced rise in adverse weather conditions, until the existing passage is completely filled, at which point water passes over the structure and floods it. the Ultzama districtnotably Errondoa Street. With the construction of the new bridge, he added, these overflows will be avoided, “thus improving the security of the area.”

Last August, the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Óscar Chivite, and the mayor of Villava, Mikel Oteizasigned an agreement under which the General Directorate of Public Works and Infrastructure undertakes to proceed with the call for tenders, the award and the provisional and final approval of the project. For his part, the city ​​council is responsible for financing the project.
