The damage suffered by the services of public transport and the railway network following the devastation DANA which devastated the province of Valence they caused the interruption of metro traffic since last Tuesday October 29.

After weeks of work on the affected and non-affected lines to restore normal service as quickly as possible, Railways of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) trust recover traffic in the coming weeks.

As the company in charge of the Valencia metro service has pointed out, one of the essential conditions for restoring traffic is the installation of a new command post, on which progress is already being made.

As the Generalitat explains in a press release, the installation of this command post is essential to recover traffic. of all linesexcept for the section between Sant Isidre and Castelló which was most affected by DANA.

The preparation of this command post is underway in the Machado Workshops and is part of the second phase of the plan developed by the Generalitat for the restoration of the metro service in the city and metropolitan area of ​​Valencia.

This Command Post is the nerve center of which supports all traffic on a rail networkas is the case with Metrovalencia, that is why it is essential.

From this installation, not only is traffic regulated and managed, but it is also control electrical substations, catenaries and station installationsas well as all traveler attention systems and the citizen security operational center.

Alongside the conditioning of the new command post, FGV is working on the tuning of the 62 units which make up the mobile fleet of the metro lines.

35 trains available

The packaging of this Command Post is carried out in the Machado workshops, since the workshops located Valencia South remained destroyed and inoperative due to the significant damage caused by the storm.

Therefore, given the impossibility of undertaking repair work at this station, the Machado workshops assumed the maintenance tasks of the stations. 35 units available and of the 19 which were seriously damaged by the passage of water.

At the same time, there are eight other units that are in the southern area of ​​the network, so they cannot be used at the moment due to existing damage on the road.

Investments

As part of this process, FGV has already awarded two emergency contracts for more than three million eurosVAT included, for the installation of the new command post of the Machado workshop, which adds to other investments already underway to restore the entire Metrovalencia network.

The first of the two contracts awarded urgently is that corresponding to the works of restoration of centralized traffic control (CTC) of the metro network which has a budget of 2,114,170.25 euros, VAT included.

On the other hand, the second includes the restoration of the remote control of Fixed Installationselectrical substations and public address systems in the metro network which will require an investment of 918,119.30 euros, VAT included.

Furthermore, in a second phase, the investment will allow the complete restoration and the commissioning of the main command post, located in the railway complex of Valencia South and this was destroyed after DANA.

Bus L1 and L9

With the aim of facilitating access to public transport for citizens in areas of the metropolitan area of ​​Valencia, the Generalitat has restructured the replacement bus lines of L1 and L9 from Metrovalencia.

In this sense, a new line that connects Massarojos to Masies metro station in L1; which completes the Riba-roja de Túria-Valencia line (replacing the L9).

From this Wednesday, four replacement lines of the Metrovalencia L1 metro service will have “important updates“, as indicated by the regional administration in a press release.

In this way, “connectivity is improved” of municipalities such as Rocafort, Bétera, Montcada and Massarojos with València and “the mobility of citizens is guaranteed” after the temporary suspension of the Metrovalencia service by DANA.

In total, the Department of the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory has enabled 19 replacement Metrovalencia linesincluding seven in Valencia Sur, the most affected by DANA. The new services, made possible by the Generalitat, replace those provided by Metrovalencia.
