Woman hospitalized in Madrid dies after being dragged by her partner’s car

This Monday, a 33-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was hit by the vehicle driven by her partner. After several hours torn between life and death in hospital, the young woman died in hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

The events took place on Monday around 4:30 p.m. on Concejo de Teverga and Avenida streets in the Madrid neighborhood of Entrevías, in the Puente de Vallecas district. According to initial reports, the couple started an argument inside their home, which continued on that street.

At one point, they both walked toward the car and apparently the woman tried to climb out the window while the car was moving. Then her companion started the car and drove onto the sidewalk, causing the woman to be thrown and hit the ground with a crash, according to witnesses.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene but returned after a few moments and surrendered to the police, who were already there. The man, also aged 33, was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury and then taken to the police station. The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.

The deceased’s partner is accused of homicide, traffic safety offences and failure to provide assistance. In addition, an investigation is underway to determine whether there is a crime of gender-based violence. At the moment, there is no record of this crime or a restraining order. The victim had had problems with a former partner related to gender-based violence.

The victim suffered head trauma and several fractures.

For their part, the Samur-Civil Protection health workers then treated the woman, who had a serious head trauma and several fractures in her left upper limb and left lower limb. After being stabilized and intubated, she was transferred with notice to the 12 de Octubre hospital, where she died today in intensive care.

The officers collected statements from several witnesses to the events, who provided contradictory versions of what happened, as police sources told Europa Press. Likewise, members of the Judicial Traffic Police of the Municipal Police went to the scene.
