This is a painting inspired by Carmen Gabucio.
He Almodovar Castle joins the 150th anniversary of Julio Romero de Torres and will exhibit a new work by the popular painter from December 2 to March 2. The work is a portrait of one of the favorite muses of his last period, Carmen Gabucio Sánchez-Mármol.
“Carmen’s racial beauty made her the protagonist of the famous painting The Virgin of the Lanterns, where she posed for the image of the Virgin. “It also appeared on the poster of the Spanish Union of Explosives in 1931,” specifies the management of the Château in a press release.
The Julio Romero Museum in Torres de Córdoba keeps a sketch by Carmen Gabucio which could well be the precursor of the painting “Consultando el fate”, he adds. In the background, the Cordoba sanctuary of Fuensantalinked to the family that owned the castle since the 16th century.
Located in the Hall of Lions of the Neo-Gothic Palace, the work can be appreciated by purchasing entry to Almodóvar Castle from Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. hours, as well as weekends and public holidays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. without interruption.
On February 15 and 16, the work will not be exhibited due to the celebration of the Medieval Days of Historical Recreation which will take place in the fortress.
