Iran’s response: Khamenei preparing for major sermon for first time in 4 years – media

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will lead prayers in Tehran next Friday, where he will deliver a sermon that is expected to be key in shaping Iran’s strategy toward Israel, according to Iranian state media cited by the New York Times. .

Khamenei rarely performs Friday prayers and only does so in emergency situations.

He last served in this role in 2020, when Iran responded to the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani by firing ballistic missiles at a US base in Iraq. The operation was authorized by US President Donald Trump and was seen as a response to Iran’s growing influence in the region and its actions against US interests. Soleimani’s killing sparked widespread international outcry, increasing tensions between Iran and the United States and prompting vows of revenge by Iran. In response to his death, Iran launched missile attacks against US bases in Iraq.

Previously, Kursor reported that, according to information received from Israeli sources and several US officials, there is a possibility that Iran could launch an attack against Israel in the coming hours.

The Israeli military confirmed that the United States warned them about the potential threat. Three Israeli officials said the next attack plans to use drones and missiles to attack targets in Israel.

One US official flagged the possibility of using ballistic missiles, while another source could not provide details of the planned attack. Iran could attack three military air bases as well as an intelligence center north of Tel Aviv that was evacuated the previous day, the officials said.
